First and foremost having a consultation to see what your hair texture, curl pattern, density, length and daily activities are will help to determine what technique to use for locking. However, you began the process of locking the hair takes time to settle, and to mature.
Traditional locks- Can be started with a coil, a two strand as well as a braid.
Micro Locs- usually started with a very small two strand twist, added hair and even an interlocking pattern.
Interlocking-Is a process of interweaving the hair in a pattern to create a building block locking system within the hair.
Sisterlocks- Sisterlocks is a trademarked company created as a natural hair management system that creates tiny style-able locks. It allows women with tightly textured hair to take advantage of a wide range of today's hairstyles without having to alter the natural texture of their hair or add any products or heat.
I recommend at least 2-3 inches for starting.
That is determined during the consultation and depends on technique, density and length. It’s an investment in how you choose to manage your natural hair.
I don’t believe this answer is cookie cutter. It really depends on each individual, but on average every three to six months.
Yes. That hair on the end’s gets old, brittle, thin, weak and sluff off.
My recommendation is to wait at least a year to two years before coloring your hair and making sure that your hair is fully settled and the locs will not be disturbed from coloring.
